| (07-22-2010; 17:51 PDT) SAN FRANCISCO [Hyatt Hotel] -- Union organizers staged a march and rally to protest contractual disputes with the Hyatt chain. After a short march through downtown and a rally in front of the Grand Hyatt near Union Square, police attempted to disperse the crowd. Instead, a defiant group did a sit-in on Stockton Street, a major artery in the area, that closed traffic and bus lines. Police arrested about 150 demonstrators. The event was part of a 15-city mobilization to bring the workers' plight to public attention. |
